Dr. Jim McIver, Sr. – Chairman of the Board
Dr. Jim McIver, Sr. is a husband, father, pastor, author and conference speaker. He has been involved in ministry and community service in the United States and abroad for over 35 years. Through the years Dr. McIver has counseled hundreds of couples, singles and teenagers and seen great success in helping families survive turbulent situations as well as the challenges of everyday life. Dr. McIver has authored over 14 books – 2 of which are about marriage and family. He and his wife Mary co-authored the book, I Do – Biblical Truth and Common Sense About Marriage. In answer to an almost constant request for help in blended family situations, Dr. McIver wrote Solutions For Blended Families. Dr. McIver holds a Doctorate of Theology from the North Carolina College of Theology and is a certified counselor. Dr. McIver is happily married to Mary McIver, who he affectionately calls “Pibby.” The McIver’s have 5 children, 8 grandchildren and a host of adults and teenagers throughout their congregation and in other parts of the world who consider them to be “Mom and Dad.”
Karen Faverey – Director
Karen Faverey has made a career of working with families. She is currently employed with Community Services for Children, the leading community agency in the Lehigh Valley. She has eight years with the agency and is experienced several positions: three years as a Family Partner Program Governance, three years as Family Formation Partner, (part of the Healthy Relationship and Marriage Education Program) and two years as a Family Enrollment Specialist. Karen attended Queensboro Community College, transferred to Baruch College for Business Management in Manhattan, New York and currently holds an Associates Degree in Arts and Biblical Studies through the North Carolina College of Theology. Karen Faverey is happily married for 19 years to Charles Faverey. Karen and Charles have four children: Leah 20; Tyrone 19; Kevyn 16 and Robert 12 years old. Karen and Charles also fostered children in the community through Pinebrook Services for Children for twelve years. In October 2004, Karen’s work with families was featured in a TIME Magazine article titles A New Marriage Proposal. Murdocc Saunders – Director / Marketing Committee Chair
Murdocc Saunders graduated from Philadelphia University with a bachelor's degree in Textile Enginering in 1999. He recalls thinking that success is becoming what God wants him to be and achieving the goals that He helped Murdocc set. His goal was to motivate and help others reach their goals. Today Murdocc is a motivational speaker for Lehigh Valley College. But he is not just a motivational speaker. He is a motivator. Whether Murdocc is speaking about personal development, business, or success principles, he skillfully uses words to paint a mental picture of achievement, enabling his audience to envision themselves crossing over the finish line to success. Murdocc lives in Bethlehem PA, and is married to a loving supportive wife Karen. He has spoken to thousands of students and professionals throughout Pennsylvania. With his unique blend of humor and the ability to help others build there dreams, he eases them into the belief that they can be successful. "Success is not what you own or what job title you hold; but instead it is the person you become in the process." He strongly believes that you should never lose faith in a brighter tomorrow, for he knows that if you keep knocking on the gates of success you are sure to get in.
Shirley Middleton – Director / Fundraising Committee Chair
Shirley Middleton has been involved in the nonprofit sector as an administrator and grant writer for many years, working with over 15 nonprofit organizations in the Lehigh Valley. She is currently employed by St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church as an Administrator. Shirley is married to singer/songwriter Paul Middleton and they have 4 beautiful children. Shirley is a graduate of the North Carolina College of Theology and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Biblical Studies.
Vince Zoppi – Director / Finance Committee Chair
Vincent Zoppi and his wife June know something about family. Vince was born on May 8, 1931 a in little town call Newton N.J. His wife of 41 years, June Pauline Wagner Zoppi, was born In Allentown, PA on October 12, 1923. They live in a home that originally belonged to June’s grandfather. Although Vince and June each had a failed first marriage, they found love when they found each other. Vince says, “In our 43 years together we have enjoyed great companionship and love. We have had very few disagreements and enjoyed traveling together throughout 47 states since I retired from working at Bethlehem Steel for 36 years. We raised 10 children (9 stepchildren from my wife’s previous marriage and one of our own a son Michael.” Vince and June’s story prove that success is still possible, even after tough family times. Vince presently has a Tax Preparation Business. He is the Treasurer, Financial Advisor and Tax Consultant to Family Solutions of PA. Vince considers himself to have a special friend in Pastor McIver who he says he “admires for his loyalty and compassion for his congregation.”
Patrick & Debbie Beck – Directors
Patrick Beck was raised in Manhattan, NY for the first 15 years of his life. His family then moved to Bethlehem, PA. Patrick is a graduate of DeSales University and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science, and has worked for elected officials at the state and federal levels. In recent years, he made a career switch and is presently employed by Lehigh Valley College as a High School Presenter.
Debbie Beck is the wife of Patrick Beck, and Dr. McIver’s oldest daughter. She is a graduate of Rhema Bible Training Center in Tulsa, OK. Debbie has over 12 years experience in administration and grant writing in the nonprofit sector.
Patrick and Debbie are both ordained ministers, and Patrick is the pastor of Promised Land Family Church in Pottstown, PA. They have an intense desire to see families make it in today’s world. Patrick and Debbie are currently experiencing the formation of a “non-traditional family.” They foster two beautiful girls, Felicia and Elizabeth, and are in the process of adopting 3 little girls from Haiti -- Esperancia, Esperanta and Etisse. Their passion is to help couples to find the assistance they need so that children can be raised in a stable and loving environment.
Marvin Byers – Director
Marvin Byers is a long time resident and business owner in the Lehigh Valley. He has a personal interest in Family Solutions of PA as a person whose family has been helped in tremendous ways by Dr. McIver over the past several years. Today the Byers family is healthy and moving in the right direction due to the love and sound counsel Dr. McIver and his wife Mary offered to Marvin, his wife Patricia and their 9 children. Marvin is a graduate of the North Carolina College of Theology and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Biblical Studies.
